Popular Gossip Girl character Jenny Humphrey is leaving Constance Billard to attend Waverly Academy, an elite boarding school in New York horse country where glamorous rich kids don’t let the rules get in the way of an excellent time. But if getting caught with boys and going up against the Disciplinary Committee is what it takes, Jenny’s ready. She’ll do all that and more to be The It Girl.
Ratings and Reviews:
Plot Line- 4/5
Character Development- 3/5
Page Turner- 3/5
Overall Rating- 10/15
Plot Line:
Not trying to dig on Ziegesar, but the plot line was predicable and cliché. In all honesty, how surprising was it that she became popular and got the guy? The book, although enjoyable, was cheesy but it was interesting and I read it in one sitting. I would reread this book just to hear the plot line again.
Character Development:
In my opinion I felt like the main character, Jenny, did not have any emotions other than her feelings towards Ethan. Brett and Callie felt one dimensional. Maybe it's because this is only book one but I will be reading book two through five as soon as I get done with my other books.
Page Turner:
The It Girl kept me turning pages for three fourths of the book. As the book came closer to the end my page turning began to slow way down. My perfect book has me turning faster as the book progresses. I did enjoy the pace of the book though.
Overall Rating:
The It Girl would be perfect for anybody who wants to read about boarding school and the drama invovled with it. Although, don't expect to have your heart twisted and pulled as Jenny follows her path to being the "It Girl". If you enjoyed Gossip Girl, The A-List or The Clique, then pick this series up IMMEDIATLY. I enjoy both The A-List and The Clique (haven't read Gossip Girl yet) and this book exceded The Clique but would probably be a step below The A-List.
